Major Paul L. Roche IV was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1991 and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2015. In June 2015, he reported to The Basic School and graduated the Infantry Officer's Course in March of 2016.
Second Lieutenant Roche reported to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines in April 2016 where he assumed the role of rifle platoon commander in Company L. In February 2017 he deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and supported Operation Inherent Resolve in Northern Syria. In November 2017 he assumed the role of executive officer for Company L and in 2019 he deployed to Okinawa, Japan with 3rd battalion, 6th Marines as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
From August to December 2019, Captain Roche attended the Basic Reconnaissance Course, graduating as class Iron Man. In July 2020, Captain Roche reported to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion and assumed the role of Assistant Operations Officer. In June 2021, Captain Roche assumed the role of Force Reconnaissance Platoon Commander, Force Reconnaissance Company, III MEF and executed two patrols in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
In November 2022, Captain Roche assumed the role of Company Commander for Company B, 3d Reconnaissance Battalion and deployed two platoons in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and three platoons as Multi-Domain Reconnaissance Platoons to key terrain in the First Island Chain.
In July 2024, Captain Roche reported to the Command and Staff College at Marine Corps University in Quantico, Virginia. During this time, he promoted to the rank of Major.
Major Roche is a graduate of the Basic Officer's Course, Infantry Officer's Course, the Basic Reconnaissance Course, S.E.R.E., the Basic Airborne Course, Marine Combatant Diver Course, Multi-Mission Parachute Course, Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School (distance) and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College (resident).
Major Roche has received (3) Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medals, (2) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and (1) Meritorious Unit Citation.
