Sgt. Maj. Paul R. Rogers

Sergeant Major Rogers is a native of Toccoa, Georgia. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in October 2002 from Atlanta, Georgia and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina in June 2003. He was assigned to 2d Battalion, Golf Company, Platoon 2072. Sergeant Major Rogers was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class upon graduating from recruit training and reported to the School of Infantry in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he received the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 0341, Infantry Mortarman.

In November 2003, Sergeant Major Rogers reported to Basic Security Guard course in Chesapeake, Virginia, spending the next three months earning the MOS 8152. After graduating, Sergeant Major Rogers was assigned to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, Georgia. Sergeant Major Rogers was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and Corporal, serving as armed sentry, Alarm Control Center operator, and Corporal of the Guard.

In March 2006, Sergeant Major Rogers reported to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. where he served as a 60mm gunner, 60mm mortar section leader, and platoon sergeant.  While assigned to Echo Company he deployed to Iraq in July 2006 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Sergeant Major Rogers was promoted to Sergeant in February 2007.

In October 2007 Sergeant Major Rogers received orders to Basic Recruiter School in San Diego, California. Upon graduation he was assigned to 6th Marine Corps Recruiting District, where he reported for duty at Recruiting Sub-Station Panama City, Florida. During his tour he served as a production recruiter and station SNCOIC.

In December 2010, Sergeant Major Rogers received orders to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was deployed on the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit in March 2011 as an 81mm Mortar Section Leader. Sergeant Major Rogers was promoted to Staff Sergeant in December 2011. In July 2012, Sergeant Major Rogers was selected to serve on an independent assignment as an infantry company advisor team chief with the Georgian Liaison Team (GLT) 9. During his tour, Sergeant Major Rogers completed a five-month pre-deployment training program in the Republic of Georgia and Germany and seven-month deployment to Afghanistan as part of OEF 13-1. Upon return, he was assigned to Fox Company as platoon sergeant and in July 2013, Sergeant Major Rogers deployed as part of SPMAGTF-Africa 14.2. Sergeant Major Rogers attended Infantry Mortar Leaders Course, Infantry Unit Leaders Course, Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques course, and Career Course during his tenure with the battalion.

In May 2015, Sergeant Major Rogers received orders to Marine Security Guard School in Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduating Marine Security Guard School 4-15, Sergeant Major Rogers was assigned orders as Detachment Commander Bamako, Mali and executed orders in July 2015. During his tour, they hosted a full mission profile with SPMAGTF-Africa and successfully secured the U.S. Embassy during two separate attacks. Sergeant Major Rogers was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in September 2016 and was assigned as Detachment Commander in Paris, France executing orders January 2017.

In December 2018, Sergeant Major Rogers received orders to Marine Corps Intelligence Agency in Quantico, Virginia with a follow-on assignment to Defense Intelligence Agency. Upon graduating the Joint Military Attaché School as the distinguished graduate, Sergeant Major Rogers executed orders to U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in October 2019, where he served as Operations Coordinator until he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in May 2021.  Upon selection, Sergeant Major Rogers was assigned to Training Company, Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, Chesapeake, Virginia in June 2021. As Company First Sergeant, he was responsible for an instructor cadre and two MOS producing schools.

Sergeant Major Rogers was promoted to his current rank in February 2024 and received orders to Recruiting Station Nashville, 4th Marine Corps Recruiting District, Eastern Recruiting Region where he currently serves as the Recruiting Station Sergeant Major.

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat distinguishing device, “V”, with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of fifth award, Combat Action Ribbon with gold star in lieu of second award, and Meritorious Honor Award from Department of State.

Sergeant Major Rogers is married to the former Brandi Mullinix and they share two children, Julia and James.
