U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. John D. Ward, right, is awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal from U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Paul Bock, Recruiting Station Frederick’s commanding officer, during his retirement ceremony in Frederick, Maryland, Sept. 25, 2014. He retired after 20 years of faithful service. The PLC program is available to college freshman, sophomores and juniors attending any accredited four-year college. It is one of many ways to become a Marine Corps officer.
