U.S. Marine Corps GySgt. James Hopper, a Military Entrance Processing Station Liason with Recruiting Station Lansing and Poolee Deborah Cardosocarvalho pose for a photo on November 10, 2022 in Lansing, MI. Cardosocarvalho has been preparing to enlist in the United States Marine Corps since May of 2021. She wanted to join the Marine Corps and enlisted into the Infantry military occupational specialty field because she wanted to be a part of something larger than herself, and join the hardest branch to challenge both her physical and mental limits. Cardosocarvalho leaves for bootcamp on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. on the 28th of November. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Jesse K. Carter-Powell)
