U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant Kevin Osborne performs a thumb-loop hold with a compass for a group of future Marines known as poolees from Marine Corps Recruiting Substation Mentor, Ohio, February 18 at Hogback Ridge Park. The poolees were taught how to conduct land navigation and then they put their skills to the test during a practical application period where they plotted points, determined an the azimuth, and located various points around the park.
