U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Jorge Sanchez, a native of Edcouch, Texas, and 2009 graduate of Edcouch-Elsa High School was promoted to his current rank of sergeant in a promotion ceremony at the Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, Sept. 1, 2015. Sanchez currently serves as the 4th Marine Corps District Supply noncommissioned officer. As Supply NCO, he is responsible for purchasing and maintaining purchase records for 4th MCD of more than six million dollars. Sanchez enlisted in the Marine Corps January 2012. He has been stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, and New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and he has been deployed to Tinian and Guam in support of Operation Forager Fury II and South Korea in support of Operation Freedom Banner. His awards include the Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and National Defense Medal.
