Conner, a native of Gastonia, North Carolina, served as the commanding officer of RS Baltimore for three years during which time the Marines under his command succeeded in contracting 2,168 men and women into the Marine Corps. Copeland, a native of Roswell, New Mexico, previously served as the operations officer for 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, before being selected as the commanding officer of RS Baltimore.
