U.S Marine Corps Capt. Joseph Reney (right), a native of Corona, Ca. and 2000 graduate of Corona High School recently received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal June 16 at the Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna, New Cumberland Pa. Reney currently serves as the 4th Marine corps District’s Public Affairs. As the Public Affairs Officer, he is responsible for giving public affairs guidance to the commanding officer and recruiting stations, training Marketing and Public Affairs Marines, and releasing public affairs stories and photos. Reney enlisted in the Marine Corps in December 27, 2000 and commissioned as an officer in 2007. He has been stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Beaufort, S.C, 1st Marine Division Camp Pendleton, CA, and 4th Marine Corps District. Reney deployed to Afghanistan in 2009. His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Navy Presidential Unit Citation, the Navy Unit Commendation, a Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, two Afghanistan Campaign Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and two Sea Service Deployment ribbons.
