U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Jefferson Brink, a canvassing recruiter from Recruiting Substation Richmond South and native of Eureka, Calif., prepares to flip the coin in the pre-game coin toss for the Great American Rivalry Series football game of L.C. Bird vs. Thomas Dale high schools Sept. 6, 2013. The two schools are only a few miles apart, and the rivalry is known locally as "The Battle of Chesterfield." RS Richmond sponsored the long-standing rivalry game as part of the Great American Rivalry Series, taking place this year at the Skyhawks' stadium in Chesterfield, Va.
