A native of Springfield, VA, Col Jason Borovies has experience with both the FMF and Supporting Establishment, as well as the Active and Reserve Components.
Borovies served as a platoon commander and assistant operations officer with 3D Battalion, 3D Marines aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii and later as a company commander and battalion operations officer with 1ST Battalion, 3D Marines. He deployed to Iraq on four occasions, including as a rifle company commander and battalion operations officer. As a LtCol, Borovies served as the Inspector-Instructor for 1st Battalion, 25th Marines in Boston, Massachusetts.
Col Borovies worked as the project officer for Theater Medical Information Technology Systems while assigned to Marine Corps Systems Command. He also completed a successful tour as the Commanding Officer for Recruiting Station Houston. He served as a liaison officer with Combined-Joint Task Force 7 and later Multi-National Corps Iraq while forward deployed. He has experience as an operational planner with I Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Forces Central Command (Forward) based in Bahrain. While assigned to CENTCOM J5 Plans, he served as a strategic planner and branch chief for the Levant and Violent Extremist Organization Branches. Borovies also served as the military aide for Ambassador James Jeffrey, Special Representative for Syria Engagement and Envoy to the Defeat-ISIS Coalition. In July 2020, Borovies assumed duties as director of Headquarters Marine Corps' Strategic Initiatives Group and subsequently Strategy Branch Head, PP&O. In December 2021, Col Borovies assumed command of 4th Marine Corps District.
A Distinguished Naval Graduate of The Citadel, Col Borovies holds an MA in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University. He was the honor graduate of his classes at the Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School, the Marine Corps School of Advanced Warfighting, and the US Naval War College. He speaks Iraqi Arabic at level two competency and is a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal with two gold stars. His younger brother Drew is a Naval Surface Warfare Officer.
