Major Jones was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1981. In September 1999 he enlisted in the Marine Corps as a Field Radio Operator. In December 1999 he graduated recruit training followed by Marine Combat Training. In January 2000 Major Jones reported to 3rd Battalion 6th Marines.
In October 2001 Major Jones deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In September 2003 Major Jones received an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps. In September 2004, Major Jones attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee on a full athletic scholarship to play basketball. He graduated in May of 2008 with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing.
In January 2009 Major Jones attended Officer Candidate School through the OCC program. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 20 March 2009. Major Jones then attended and graduated from The Basic School in September 2009 and the Logistics Officer Course in December 2009. In January 2010 Major Jones was assigned as First Platoon Commander, Transportation Support Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 8. In March 2011 Major Jones deployed to Helmond Province Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Upon returning from Afghanistan in October 2011, Major Jones was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 26 where he served as Logistics Officer in support of 26 Marine Expeditionary Unit. Major Jones completed the entire work up cycle with 26 Marine Expeditionary Unit but was reassigned days prior to the deployment because of restraints in his time remaining on station. Major Jones was then assigned to the Retrograde and Redeployment in support of Reset and Reconstitution Operational Group (R4OG) as Executive Officer and Operations Officer in the Retrograde Operations Company (ROC) and deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from February 2013 to September 2013.
In October 2013, Major Jones reported to Recruiting Station Jacksonville where he served as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer. From August 2016 to May 2017 Major Jones attended resident Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia and served as an augment at Officer Candidate School from May 2017 to August 2017. In September 2017 Major Jones was assigned as the Assistant Logistics Officer for III MEF Information Group. From June 2018 to July 2019 Major Jones served as Company Commander for Support
Company, III MEF Support Battalion. From July 2019 to May 2020 Major Jones served as the Lead Logistics Planner, G4, 3d Marine Division. Major Jones completed Blended Command and Staff Seminar in October of 2020. From May 2020 to March 2023 Major Jones served as Training Team Officer, Assistant to Enlisted Recruiting, and Deputy Operations Officer at the 4th Marine Corps Recruiting District.
Major Jones has a Masters Degree in Management and Leadership. Major Jones' personal awards and decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, gold star in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, gold star in lieu of second award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
