Tomasz Niedzwiecki, center, stands with his family after being awarded the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Scholarship at his home June 19, 2015. Niedzwiecki was denied the scholarship on his first attempt during his senior year of high school but improved his application during his freshmen year of college.
