Major Dominique Thomas, from Moss Point, Mississippi, graduated from Wabash College and commissioned through the OCC program as a Second Lieutenant in August 2011. He reported to The Basic School in August 2011 with Golf Company. Upon graduation from The Basic School, Major Thomas reported to the Infantry Officer Course 4-12 in February 2012.
Following the completion of Infantry Officer Course, Major Thomas reported to 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment as a Rifle Platoon Commander with Golf Company. As the battalion postured to fold colors, Major Thomas conducted a permanent change of assignment to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment as a Weapons Platoon Commander with India Company. Major Thomas conducted two work-ups, executing two Weapons and Tactics Instructor Courses and deployment as part of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) 12.2 and the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
In 2015, Major Thomas received orders to Marine Corps Operational Test and Evaluation Activity (MCOTEA) in Quantico, Virginia. While at MCOTEA, Major Thomas served as an Assistant Operational Test Project Officer, Test Manager, and Infantry Subject Matter Expert in the Naval Branch. He served as the Test Manager for the Amphibious Assault Vehicle – Survivability Upgrade (AAV-SU) test in 2016. Following the completion of the AAV-SU testing, Major Thomas served as Infantry SME on the Expeditionary Support Base program and Defense Advanced Research Project Agency’s SquadX program until 2017. From 2017-2019, Major Thomas served as Assistant Opertaional Test Project Officer for the Amphibious Combat Vehicle Operational Assessment and Initial Operational Test.
In the the spring of 2019, Major Thomas received orders to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment. Major Thomas assumed command of Weapons Company. Major Thomas conducted a workup and deployment to Marine Rotational Force Darwin (MRF-D) 21.2 as part of the Ground Combat Element.
In November 2021, Major Thomas was promoted to his current rank and relinquished command of Weapons Company to assume duties as the Battalion’s Operations Officer. Major Thomas conducted a workup and deployment to Okinawa, Japan as part of the UDP 23.2. While forward deployment Major Thomas received orders to RS Lansing.
Major Thomas assumed command of RS Lansing on September 1, 2023.
He is married to the former Aeva R. Pool of Indianapolis, Indiana. They have three children: Annabelle (7), Adeline (3), and Theodore (1).
Major Thomas’ awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
