Sergeant Major Christopher D. Maddox

Sgt. Maj. Christopher Maddox is a native of Woodbridge, Virginia.  In October 1998, he reported to Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.  Upon graduation, he reported to the Marine Combat Training School at Camp Geiger, North Carolina.  In February 1999, Pfc. Maddox received orders to Marine Corps Communication Electronics School, Twenty-nine Palms, California. Once he graduated, Pfc. Maddox received orders to Marine Wing Communication Squadron 28, Cherry Point, North Carolina.
 
While assigned to Marine Wing Communication Squadron 28, he filled positions of telephone communication repairer and ground radio repairer.  While assigned to Marine Wing Communication Squadron 28, he participated in various exercises such as Combined Arms Exercises (CAX) 1/2 and 3/4 in Twenty-nine Palms, California, Weapons Training Instruction (WTI) in Yuma, Arizona, and Dynamic Mix in Thessaloniki, Greece. In January 2003, Cpl. Maddox deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraq Freedom.  During this deployment, Cpl. Maddox was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
 
In December 2003, Sgt. Maddox was ordered to Recruiters School, MCRD San Diego, California and upon graduation, he reported to Recruiting Station Richmond, Virginia.  While assigned as a canvassing recruiter for Recruiting Substation Roanoke, Virginia, Sgt. Maddox was the Newcomer of the Year and 2nd place Recruiter of the year.  
 
In June 2007, Sgt. Maddox received orders back to Marine Corps Communication Electronics School, Twenty-nine Palms, California, where he attended Ground Electronics course and acquired the MOS of 2862. He was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in December 2007.
 
In May 2008, he received orders to 3rd Battalion 9th Marines, Headquarters Company as the electronics Maintenance Chief.  In June 2009 he deployed again ISO Operation Iraqi Freedom.   
 
In June 2010, Staff Sgt. Maddox received orders to the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, Quantico, Virginia. During this time, Staff Sgt. Maddox was a Faculty Advisor for the Corporals Course and Sergeants Course. In 2012 Staff Sgt. Maddox had the distinct pleasure or teaching PME to the Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. In September 2012 he was promoted to the rank of gunnery sergeant.
 
In July 2013, Gunnery Sgt. Maddox received orders to Marine Wing Communication Squadron 28, where he was assigned as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant. Gunnery Sgt. Maddox held that billet until he was moved to the Control Group to be the Personnel Support Detachment First Sergeant in 2015.  
 
In October 2016, Gunnery Sgt. Maddox was promoted to the rank of first sergeant and received orders to Inspector Instructor Duty, Delta Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Quantico, Virginia. During this time, 1st Sgt. Maddox graduated from the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, Rhode Island.
 
In March 2019, 1st Sgt. Maddox was directed to report to Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2D Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. 
 
In June 2021, 1st Sgt. Maddox was promoted to his current rank of sergeant major and transferred to his current unit, Recruiting Station Richmond, Virginia, 4th Marine Corps Recruiting District.
 
Sgt. Maj. Maddox's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
